PRAGUE. April 8 (Interfax) - U.S. President Barack Obama says a decision on new sanctions on North Korea, which has not curtailed its nuclear program, and the discussions on the Iran nuclear problem should prompt other countries to observe the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
Speaking in Prague after signing a new strategic arms reduction treaty with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Obama suggested that progress in sanctions on North Korea and active debates that are currently under way regarding Iran would give increasingly clearer signals to the countries not honoring their obligations under the Non- Proliferation Treaty.
The U.S. leader said he was optimistic about prospects of cooperation with Russia in various fields.
