ISS-Reshetnev to make satellites radically different from SESAT

MOSCOW. April 30 (Interfax-AVN) - Although the first Siberian-European satellite SESAT has been showing impeccable performance for the past ten years, Information Satellite Systems (ISS-Reshetnev, based in Zheleznogorsk) does not plan to make satellites of this design in the future, ISS-Reshetnev general designer and general director Nikolai Testoyedov told the media.

"The SESAT project will not be developed any further, because the satellite platform design has changed over the years. We have developed new satellite platforms in the past five years on orders and funds from Roscosmos," he said.

A new product has been created, which is in high demand on the international market, he said. "The idea is that unlike the large satellites, which must be launched with a separate rocket, a medium-class satellite may be launched alongside other satellites, which cuts costs on delivery vehicles by half," he said.

Modern satellites, offered to customers, have twice as powerful energy characteristics as SESAT. "The weight of the new satellite is 33% percent less, and the price to quality ratio is the best on the global market" Testoyedov said.
