MOSCOW. April 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The Baltic Yantar shipbuilding plant is implementing a large-scale modernization project.
"We have worked on this project very seriously and we have a very good idea of the sequence in which modernization should take place," the plant's General Director Igor Orlov told Interfax-AVN.
Orlov said the modernization of the plant will take place in three stages. "The first is oriented more towards hull preparation work and project work at the plant. That is, we have to become a shipyard using the most modern technologies in a way that will be the fastest and the most convenient for the client because now many construction, organizational, and technical decisions have to be made directly at the shipyard," Orlov said.
As for the second stage, Orlov said it is more oriented towards pre-construction production, organizational solutions in the sphere of logistics, and interaction with subcontractors. 'The third stage will essentially be aimed at taking our berthing structures and service infrastructure to the appropriate level," he said.
