BISHKEK. May 13 (Interfax) - The deputy head of Kyrgyzstan's interim government on Wednesday asserted that they were in control of the country.
"Those who think there is no authority in Kyrgyzstan are mistaken," Almazbek Atambayev told a rally outside the parliament building in Bishkek.
He accused some of the police and security service generals of attempting to "seize power and organize rallies against the provisional government of Kyrgyzstan."
"We will no longer allow our country to be ruined and plundered," he said.
He also promised to "find the murderers of civilians who were [killed] in clashes in the center of Bishkek on April 7" and said the government plans to raise wages and pensions.
"There is five months remaining before the parliamentary elections. Let us live these five months in peace," he said.
