MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax) - Three Moscow police officers have been sentenced to 3.5 years in a penal colony for beating up a detainee.
The sentence was handed down by the Moscow Simonovsky District court, the press service for the Moscow Prosecutor's Office told Interfax on Thursday.
On February 25, the policemen detained a man for an administrative violation on Moscow's Ulitsa Akademika Millionshchikova and took him to a police station.
"In the interrogation room, the criminals handcuffed the man and tortured him, inflicting bodily injuries on him," the report says.
The court has sentenced the police officers to 3.5 years in a penal colony and banned them from working in law enforcement for three years.
