MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Aerospace threats are particularly dangerous for Russia's military security today, ex-Commander of the Russian Air Force, General of the Army Anatoly Kornukov said.
"An aerospace attack decides all today," Kornukov, an advisor to Almaz-Antey, a developer of air defense systems, said at a news conference on Thursday.
Russia has been working on a strategy for aerospace defense for quite some time now, he said. "Unfortunately, no practical decisions have been made, or results achieved. New missile defense systems are being created at a very slow pace," the general said.
"The time lag in creating a new aerospace defense system has reached 20-30 years," he said. "Unfortunately, the time lag between us and our 'virtual' enemy is 20-30 years," he said.
