Helicopter production to grow at 20% pace in Russia in coming years - Oboronprom

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Production of helicopters in Russia will grow at least 20% in the coming years, Andrei Reus, the general director of the Oboronprom United Industrial Corporation, said on Friday.

"A 20% growth pace suits us and we will maintain it. But there are market challenges which must be taken into account," Reus said at a news conference at the HeliRussia-2010 show in Moscow

Russian Helicopters holding company, which is part of Oboronprom, "has contracts for the next two years," he said.

But the market demands that Russian helicopters get adjusted to it more quickly, he added.

"We will be enlarging our capabilities during the next five years. Perhaps we will have to move even faster in this direction," Reus said.

Oboronprom cannot put up with the situation when clients must wait two years for their orders to be fulfilled, he said.
