MOSCOW. May 25 (Interfax) - A Justice Ministry official believes the Internet is the main source for radical and extremist ideas.
"The level of daily xenophobia is very high in our country and it is commonly recognized that the Internet is the main disseminator of the most radical and extremist ideas," Alexander Fedorov, first deputy justice minister, said at the meeting of the Federation Council's commission on nationalities policy and liaison between the state and religious associations.
The Justice Ministry has now prohibited the dissemination of 616 extremist materials and publications, he said. "However, this list has tripled since June 2008 and now contains materials and literature promoting ethnic feuds and hatred," Fedorov said.
