Conscripts in Siberian Military District training for Vostok war games

MOSCOW. June 4 (Interfax-AVN) - More than half of the primary units in the Siberian Military District, that are preparing for the Vostok-2010 operational-strategic exercise, are manned by conscripts drafted in the spring conscription campaign, Siberian Military District spokesman Valery Sheblanin told Interfax-AVN on Friday.

"The Siberian Military District troops commander, Lt. Gen. Vladimir Chirkov, oversaw the progress of the troops of the Trans-Baikal direction, who will take part in the Vostok-2010 war games," Sheblanin said.

The commander laid special emphasis on water assault task groups, being trained for the maneuvers, he said.

The individual training of servicemen was conducted at the initial stage during complex field training. Now the combat shakedown began for the primary units - motorized infantry squads, and tank and artillery crews, the spokesman said.

"The combat training program for primary units takes into account that all of the units are comprised of 50%-80% conscripts recruited in spring," Sheblanin said.
