Security forces conducting operation against suspected militants in Dagestani village

MAKHACHKALA. June 16 (Interfax) - Security forces are conducting a special operation to neutralize suspected members of illegal armed units in the village of Kostek in the Khasavyurt district of Dagestan, the Federal Security Service (FSB) department for Dagestan told Interfax.

"Militants from the Khasavyurt terrorist and sabotage group have been surrounded in a house. A counterterrorist operation has been imposed on the village at 7:45 a.m. The militants refused to surrender. The commandos are currently storming the house," it said.

Kostek is the home village of Dzhanet Abdullayeva, a suicide bomber who blew herself up in the Moscow Metro on March 28.
