MOSCOW. June 16 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon over the phone on Tuesday that the authorities in Moscow were concerned over the violent ethnic clashes in Kyrgyzstan and the mass exodus of refugees from the republic.
"The Russian side expressed concern over the civilian casualties [in Kyrgyzstan], as well as the considerable number of refugees who gathered near the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Wednesday.
"Lavrov informed [the UN secretary-general] of all the details of the efforts being made by the Russian authorities to stabilize the situation in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the appropriate measures being taken within the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization)," the ministry said.
