Another 30 billion rubles necessary for fifth-generation jet program - Putin

ZHUKOVSKY. June 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Another 30 billion rubles are necessary for completing the fifth-generation fighter jet project, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.

He had spoken to Sergei Bogdan, who piloted the new jet at the Gromov Flight Research Institute.

Thirty billion rubles were invested in the first phase of the project, and another 30 billion are necessary now, he said. After that, modernization of the engine, armaments and other systems will start.

"This is a durable commodity. It will be used for 30-35 years, prospective modernization included," Putin said.
