ZHUKOVSKY, Moscow region. June 17 (Interfax-AVN) - The Defense Ministry will buy no less than 50 fifth-generation fighter jets starting in 2016, Deputy Defense Minister Vladimir Popovkin said in Zhukovsky on Thursday.
"We will buy several dozen planes, more than 50, at first," he said.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and representatives of the Defense Ministry, the United Aircraft Corporation and Sukhoi watched the jet's test flight on Thursday.
The Defense Ministry will buy a trial batch of the aircraft after 2012, Popovkin said.
The batch will be made up of six to ten planes, Sukhoi General Director Mikhail Pogosyan said.
