Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant to start generating electricity by end of 2010 - Kiriyenko

BUSHEHR, Iran. Aug 23 (Interfax) - The Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran, whose reactor was launched in a ceremony on Saturday, will start commercial operations by the end of 2010, Russian state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom chief Sergei Kiriyenko said on Saturday.

"Everything is proceeding according to schedule," Kiriyenko said, adding that the schedule was discussed with Iran at an earlier session on Saturday.

The loading of the reactor with fuel was started on Saturday and will have to pass several phases, each of them requiring endorsement by an Iranian watchdog.

"The further timeline will be determined by the supervision agency," Kiriyenko said.
