S. Ossetia minister denies deployment of S-300 missile systems in republic

TSKHINVALI. Aug 25 (Interfax) - South Ossetia's Defense Minister Valery Yakhnovets has denied reports claiming that S-300 surface-to-air missile systems have been placed in the republic.

"Today the airspace over South Ossetia is guarded by the air defense means of the 58th Army of the Russian Federation, which is quite enough to ensure the republic's security. There are no S-300 systems in South Ossetia today," Yakhnovets told Interfax on Wednesday.
