Moscow police officer accused of bribery held

MOSCOW. Aug 27 (Interfax) - A police officer has been detained in Moscow on suspicion of accepting a huge cash bribe, a law enforcement source told Interfax.

"On August 26, Moscow prosecutors launched a criminal case against a police captain, born 1979, from the Russian Interior Ministry's investigation bureau number 11, who attempted to receive a $250,000 bribe from a businessman while on duty on August 25 at 7:25 p.m. in exchange for cargo seized earlier at [Moscow's] Domodedovo airport," the source said.

An inquiry is under way, he added.
