Russian warship preparing for joint drills with Italian Navy

SEVASTOPOL. Sept 6 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Black Sea Fleet's Ladny frigate is heading to the Italian port of Taranto to take part in the Ioniex bilateral exercise, the BSF spokesperson told Interfax-AVN on Friday.

"Today Ladny left the Libyan port of Tripoli and is now heading to Taranto where the scheduled conference is due to take place for detailed approval of the program of the Russian-Italian naval exercise Ioniex-2010," the spokesperson said.

Ladny is due to arrive at Taranto on September 5, he said.

The Ladny frigate left the BSF base on August 16 to take part in the Ioniex-2010 international exercise in the Ionian Sea. During its mission in the Mediterranean Sea Ladny is due to make several visits to the ports of Greece, France, Libya and Italy.
