Russia likely to extradite Ukrainian wanted in France for double murder, theft

TYUMEN. Sept 20 (Interfax) - The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has received documents for extraditing Ukrainian national Ivan Dolynsky to France on suspicion of a double murder and theft in Paris.

"Dolynsky has been on the international wanted list for a double murder on French territory. He was detained in Tyumen this summer," Alexander Buzhan, the chief of the Tyumen regional office of the Russian National Central Bureau of Interpol, said at a press conference at the joint press center of Interfax and the Tyumen Line news agency.

Dolynsky is currently being held at a Tyumen detention center, he said.

The investigation has determined that Dolynsky illegally arrived in Paris in 1999 to join the French Foreign Legion but failed to do so. He, however, stayed in Paris and unofficially renovated apartments there.

In February 2001, Dolynsky and his friend killed two people, a Frenchman and a Pole, and also committed a theft. After that, he left France and arrived in Tyumen, where he did odd jobs for some time.

On July 17, 2010, a traffic police patrol stopped Dolynsky for an ID check and found out that he was on the international wanted list. He was taken into custody on July 21.

The man is facing imprisonment from 30 years to life.
