Premature to institute military police in Russia – Military Prosecutor

MOSCOW. Sept 20 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's Main Military Prosecutor Sergei Fridinsky said it would be premature to form military police before the law enforcement system is reorganized.

"A group of experts, including experts of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office are working on this. They started more than a year ago. But I would not hurry to confirm this idea in a law," Fridinsky told the Federation Council on Monday.

A great number of changes will have to be made in legislation for instituting military police, he also said.

This could be done more quickly and more skillfully after a reform of the law enforcement system, using the experience gained, Fridinsky said.
