DUSHANBE. Sept 27 (Interfax) - Tajik law enforcement services have killed one of the inmates, who escaped from a detention facility of the State National Security Committee on August 23, the National Security Committee has reported.
"Tajik citizen Rakhmiddin Azizov, who escaped from the National Security Committee's detention facility early on August 23, has been eliminated in a security operation, when he offered armed resistance," it said.
Seventeen of the 25 runaway inmates remain at large.
Azizov had a loaded Kalashnikov rifle and a large sum of cash, the National Security Committee said.
