MATYBULAK TRAINING RANGE. Sept 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Servicemen from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states participating in the Peace Mission-2010 counterterrorism exercises have demonstrated a high level of combat training and teamwork, Kazakh Defense Minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov said.
"My counterparts from other SCO member countries think that everything went just as planned, and all of the tasks set to the participants in the exercises were accomplished. All this confirms that our armed forces and military units are capable of providing protection from international terrorism," Dzhaksybekov said after the active phase of the exercises, which took place at the Matybulak training range in Kazakhstan's Zhambyl region on Friday.
All of the units involved in the maneuvers "fulfilled the tasks given to them brilliantly," the Kazakh minister said.
"But the main result of these exercises is our ability to ensure orderly and productive teamwork in maintaining security in the region, should destabilizing factors emerge on the territory of any SCO member state," he said.
The active phase of the Peace Mission-2010 exercises involved more than 3,000 servicemen from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
