DEUVILLE. Oct 19 (Interfax) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev believes there is good potential for resolving the Transdniestrian conflict, but the negotiations on this issue should resume after parliamentary elections in Moldova.
"I believe we can achieve good results here, but in order for that to happen all parties involved in this conflict have to take constructive stances," Medvedev told a press conference after meeting with French President Nicholas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday.
"It's another thing that the administration in Moldova is currently in a state of uncertainty. Elections are coming and, naturally, these processes can be resumed only when the parties to the negotiations are formed, and a party to the negotiations is a party that has powers," Medvedev said.
Medvedev reiterated that Russia will continue promoting the resolution of the Transdniestrian conflict, but the success of the negotiations will also depend on other participants in this process.
"I would like to point out that the success of this process does not depend on Russia alone. The success of this entire work also depends on the position of Moldova, Transdniestria, Romania, and the EU," Medvedev said.
The parliamentary elections in Moldova are scheduled for November 19.
