ASTRAKHAN. Oct 27 (Interfax) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has announced that he will submit a police reform bill to the lower house of parliament on Wednesday.
"I would like to announce that the bill has been finalized and I will submit it to the State Duma today," Medvedev said in Astrakhan in answer to a question from an Interfax correspondent.
The bill may be changed after parliament debates it, he said.
The bill's referral to parliament does not mean that "it is closed for discussion," he said.
The bill must go through all stages of scrutiny in the State Duma, he added.
"I am convinced that the bill will undergo editing and that new content may be added to it. But the nucleus is ready, with ideas expressed in a nationwide discussion taken into account," Medvedev said.
During the discussion by citizens and experts, "the bill was seriously amended and important additions were made in individual provisions," he said.
"I do hope for a consolidated discussion of the bill in the State Duma by all political forces. It concerns all our citizens," the president said.
