KYIV. November 1 (Interfax) - The Party of Regions predicts possible political confrontation after the Sunday local elections in Ukraine.
"Considering that 151 political forces are taking part in the elections and sociological surveys indicate that several forces may win, we can assume that the absolute majority of participants will remain outsiders. We expect that there will be confrontation," deputy head of the party Oleksandr Yefremov said at a press conference in Kyiv.
He said that this year elections are organized so that it is impossible to speak of any systemic irregularities. "The voting is proceeding calmly," he said.
"The elections today are held duly, in a good working atmosphere and apparently at the end of the day we will be able to rejoice that in these elections we took one more step toward democracy," he said.
