Lisbon summit may boost NATO-Russia relations - German minister

MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - The upcoming NATO-Russia Lisbon summit may boost relations between the alliance and Moscow, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle told a Monday press conference in Moscow after talks with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

"The Lisbon summit gives an opportunity to emphasize strategic relations between NATO and Russia and to give these relations a boost," he said.

Lavrov also voiced hope for a productive summit and other upcoming high-level meetings.

"We are interested in weighty results of the upcoming forums, including the Russia-EU summit due in December, and in the coordination of a general course in European affairs," he said.
