MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's Navigation Information Systems federal network operator (NIS) is hoping to sign a series of new contracts with state-owned and private companies in India, including police departments, for the use of the Russian GLONASS satellite navigation system.
"NIS GLONASS is planning to sign another several contracts shortly for the implementation of 'pilot projects' for private and state-owned Indian companies, including the police departments of various Indian states," NIS said in a statement that reached Interfax-AVN on Monday.
Next year, NIS intends to place a tender bid for equipping Indian railways with traffic control and real-time passenger information systems, the statement says.
