MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Differences over the Kuril Islands that have once again flared up will not stop a planned meeting from taking place between President Dmitry Medvedev and Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kana on the sidelines of the APEC summit in Japan later this month, a senior Kremlin aide said.
"There are no obstacles hindering this meeting," Sergei Prikhodko told Interfax on Tuesday.
However, a diplomatic source in Moscow said, "The schedule of bilateral meetings at the APEC summit has not been finally confirmed.
"Bilateral meetings between the delegation leaders and the hosting country's head are not always mandatory at APEC summits," the source remarked.
