16 kilograms of heroin seized in Ufa

UFA. Nov 3 (Interfax) - Federal Security Service (FSB) officers have confiscated 16 kilograms of heroin from drug traffickers in Ufa, the capital of Russia's republic of Bashkortostan.

"Officers of the FSB Bashkortostan branch dismantled the operations of an international criminal group, which included Russian and Tajik citizens who had been smuggling large hauls of strong narcotic substances into Moscow, Kurgan, Chelyabinsk, Perm, Ufa, Kazan and Naberezhnye Chelny for a long period of time," the press service of the FSB Bashkortostan branch said.

The operation was conducted following a tip-off that the group planned to smuggle a large haul of high quality heroin into Ufa, it said.

A Tajik citizen and a citizen of Russia were detained while packing heroin for sale inside an apartment in Ufa.

Sixteen kilograms of drugs were confiscated from them.

The results of an examination confirmed that it was high quality heroin sufficient to make 160,000 dozes.
