Russian Army to get Diesel powered Tigr-M armored car

MOSCOW. Nov 3 (Interfax-AVN) - Tigr-M armored cars will be in greater demand in Russian army and law enforcement agencies if Russian diesel engine is installed in them.

"We plan that we will ensure greater output thanks to installing the engine produced in Yaroslavl in Tigr-M," Alexander Sokolov, sales director of the Arzamass engineering plant, told Itnerfax-AVN.

"The Arzamass engineering plant is to deliver the pilot batch of Tigr-M armored cars to the Russian army at the year's end," he said.

The Russian army will purchase Tigr-M within the framework of the state defense order starting from 2011, he said.

"At the same time we plan to install engine produced in the United States in cars to be delivered through Rosoboronexport," he said.
