JERUSALEM. Nov 3 (Interfax) - Deliveries of Yakhont missile systems to Syria are painful for Israel, but it will not make any retaliatory moves in relation to Russia, said Israel's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.
"Of course, Russian arms deliveries to Syria are very painful to us and this will be a central issue in all of our summit contacts," Lieberman told Russian journalists in Jerusalem on Wednesday.
Asked by Interfax, whether Israel plans to take retaliatory measures, he said, "No one looks at the issue in such terms. Dialogue between normal states is not conducted in such terms," he said.
"Even if disagreements are there, questions must be discussed," Lieberman said, adding that missile system deliveries to Syria will change the alignment of forces in the region.
"Syria is part of the alliance together with Iran and North Korea, which aims to destroy Israel. Syria supports Hezbollah , and Hamas and the Islamic Jihad are headquartered in Damascus. This powerful arms injection into Syria changes the alignment of forces," he said.
Lieberman said such aspects of arms exports must be discussed with Russia at the negotiating table.
