Russia-NATO summit must seal transition from Cold War to partnership - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Nov 3 (Interfax) - Russia hopes the Russia-NATO summit in Lisbon will document the transition from the Cold War era to a real partnership between Moscow and the Alliance, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"We are interested in getting responsible and far-reaching decisions made at the summit and in documenting in Lisbon a transition from the Cold War aftermath to the formation of truly strategic partnership, needed to tackle common tasks," he said at a news conference in Moscow on Wednesday.

Lavrov also said that joint interest was further voiced in the Russia-NATO dialogue during NATO Secretary General Andres Fogh Rasmussen's visit to Moscow.

"Both sides reaffirmed their readiness and desire to promote normal and mutually respectful relations," he said.
