Tbilisi must know Moscow will not leave its citizens in Georgia in trouble - Kosachyov

MOSCOW. Nov 8 (Interfax) - Head of the State Duma Committee for International Affairs Konstantin Kosachyov has warned Tbilisi that Russia will not leave its citizens detained in Georgia on suspicion of spying in trouble.

"The situation is very serious and those who have staged this latest provocation in Georgia must clearly realize that and know that Russia will not leave its citizens in trouble," he told Russian news agencies on Friday.

He said Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili "has at least two passions." "On is to aggravate relations with Russia to the utmost and present Russia as an enemy of Georgia, of the Georgian people. The second is to destroy as may people on this road - I mean the tragedy in South Ossetia - or jail as many people as possible," he said.

"People have been arrested who have nothing to do with special services, who are doing nothing again Georgia but who once again will be declared enemies of the Georgian people," Kosachyov said.

"If Russian citizens are in question, I would want to recall the words of the Russian president who has repeated on numerous occasions that Russia will always and everywhere protect its citizens with all available means," he said.
