MOSCOW. Nov 8 (Interfax) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has signed a law ratifying the Russian-Chinese agreement on ballistic and space launch notification, the Kremlin press service told Interfax.
The federal law was passed by the State Duma on October 20 and approved by the Federation Council on October 27.
The law ratifies the Russian-Chinese agreement on ballistic and space launch notification signed in Beijing on October 13, 2009.
The purpose of the agreement is to create a mechanism for mutual notification of impending and realized ballistic and space launches in Russia and China to prevent possible unclear situations.
Information exchange on ballistic and space launches will be confidential.
For ballistic launches, notification will be given if they are launched at a range exceeding 2,000 km in the direction of the other party.
The agreement outlines the time frameworks for the provision of notifications, their duration period, and information contained in them.
The agreement is in line with Russia's interests because it will promote mutual confidence, openness of relations between Russia and China, and their development in issues relating to strategic cooperation and partnership.
