Three policemen killed in series of attacks in Makhachkala

MAKHACHKALA. Nov 11 (Interfax) - At least three policemen were killed in a series of attacks on police detachments in Makhachkala, Dagestan, a Dagestani Interior Ministry source told Interfax on Thursday.

Five armed men stole a Lada Priora car from a traffic police officer, who is on vacation, at about 1:00 p.m. and, driving in this car, committed attacks on police detachments, he said.

"Several policemen have been killed and wounded in a series of attacks on Sovetskaya Street, Gadzhiyev Street, and Akushinsky Street. The deaths of three policemen have been confirmed," he said.

A special operation has been launched in the city to hunt down the attackers, he said.
