Thai decision to extradite Bout made under "unprecedented pressure" - Lavrov (Part 2)

NAIROBI. Nov 16 (Interfax) - Thailand's authorities agreed to support the United States' request for the extradition of Russian businessman Viktor Bout under "unprecedented political pressure", Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a news conference.

"We think that unprecedented political pressure was put on the court proceedings and the government of Thailand," Lavrov said.

"This entire story is an example of blatant injustice," the minister said.

The decision to extradite Bout was made after Thailand's court ruled twice that Bout's guilt in the crimes he is accused of was not proven, he said.

The Russian authorities will continue offering Bout all of the necessary support, Lavrov said.
