MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will hold a bilateral meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during the 3rd Caspian summit in Baku, Kremlin aide Sergei Prikhodko told journalists.
"Dmitry Anatolyevich [Medvedev] will have a meeting with Ahmadinejad on [November] 18. The meeting will take place in line with a mutual agreement," Prikhodko said.
The meeting will deal with "the explanation of our position, the explanation of Iran's position regarding their plans and willingness to take into account the international community's concerns and looking for ways to promote dialogue on nuclear problems," he said.
"It is necessary to find out the Iranian president's real intentions, continue substantive dialogue with the international community, and find out their concerns. After all, we should ask them why they are not consenting and what is worrying them. This doesn't mean that we have to accept their arguments, but I believe we should talk with them," Prikhodko said.
Russia and Iran are neighbors, and the two countries are responsible at least for the situation in the Caspian region, he said.
