MAKHACHKALA, Russia. Nov 19 (Interfax) - Bomb disposal experts rendered harmless two improvised bombs that had been found on Friday in the center of Kaspiysk, a city in the southern Russian republic of Dagestan, Russia's National Anti-Terrorism Committee said.

The bombs were hidden in a plastic bag and were pressure-activated devices, each was as powerful as 1 kilogram of TNT. They were wine bottles filled with explosives, a spokesman told Interfax.

The bombs were reported by a local resident who had noticed a suspicious-looking bag with wires in it, the spokesman said.

The place where the bombs were found was cordoned off and people living nearby were evacuated from their homes.

The bombs were destroyed by Federal Security Service (FSB) experts about three and a half hours after they were reported, according to the spokesman.
