Russia delays launch of weather, monitoring satellites

MOSCOW. Nov 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has delayed for one year the launch of a weather satellite and a satellite monitoring emergency situations, a representative of the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) told Interfax-AVN.

"The launch of the Meteor-M2 weather satellite and the Kanopus-B2 monitoring satellite has been delayed from 2011 to 2012," he said.

Earlier reports said that Meteor-M2 would be launched in the second half of 2011, and Kanopus-B2 would be put to orbit in late 2011.

The satellites are products of the Iosifyan Electro-Mechanics Research Institute.
