TBILISI. Nov 24 (Interfax) - A Georgian opposition MP has demanded an investigation into media reports alleging that Georgian delegates at last week's NATO summit in Lisbon staged a drunken orgy with dozens of prostitutes at an expensive hotel.
"This fact cited by Western media calls for an investigation because this concerns Georgia's entire reputation," said Levan Vepkhvadze, a Christian Democrat MP and vice-speaker of the parliament.
Georgian media reported earlier, citing the Portuguese news agency Correio da Manha, that members of the Georgian delegation hired 80 prostitutes and held a party in several of the hotel's rooms with some of their Armenian counterparts.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who was staying at the same hotel, complained about the level of noise to the hotel staff, who in turn called the police, according to reports.
