MOSCOW. Nov 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Large-sale investment projects must be conducted and state support provided if the Russian defense industry is to be technologically retooled, Alexander Brindikov said, the president of the League for Assisting Defense Companies.
"We have missed the right time for a pin-point retooling of the industry and must now think of serious investment projects, if the collapse at a branch level is to be prevented," Brindikov told the League presidium.
Large resources are being put in the defense-industry complex. "But no effect has been achieved that would demonstrate that we have saved our positions and are competitive at home and abroad," he said.
The Russian military-industrial complex "is losing its markets at the branch level, not at the level of individual companies," Brindikov also said.
"Large-scale efforts must be made to solve the problem. Individual companies cannot draw serious investment to accomplish deep retooling. Therefore, all federal programs connected with the state defense order and national technological base must be properly coordinated," he said.
