Kremlin hails Kazakhstan's efforts during OSCE presidency

MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan has successfully coped with its duties as the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe president and the host-country of an OSCE summit, Russian presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko told reporters on Monday ahead of the December 1-2 OSCE summit in Astana, the first OSCE summit in 11 years.

He described the upcoming summit, which will bring together heads of state of the 56 OSCE member states, 12 partner states and representatives of international organizations, as a "serious achievement."

A Kremlin source has briefed Interfax on the Astana summit's schedule.

The official opening ceremony on Wednesday morning will be followed by the first plenary meeting. After a working lunch, the second plenary meeting will be held. An official reception hosted by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will begin at 8:00 p.m.

The third plenary meeting will take place on December 2, followed by the signing of the final documents and the solemn closing ceremony.

"Work on the final documents is going on. They will certainly reflect the assessment of the 35th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act," the source said.
