RS-24 entry into service will increase RVSN potential to counter missile defense - ministry

MOSCOW. Dec 1 (Interfax-AVN) - RS-24 (Yars) intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) with multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles, which started to enter service in the Strategic Rocket Forces (RVSN), will increase the Russian strategic potential, the Russian Defense Ministry told Interfax-AVN.

"The entry into service of RS-24 missiles will strengthen the RVSN strike group's combat capabilities to counter missile defense systems, thus strengthening the nuclear deterrence potential of the Russian Strategic Nuclear Forces," RVSN spokesman Lt. Col. Igor Shevchenko told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.
