MOSCOW. Dec 2 (Interfax-AVN) - About 2,000 aircraft will be acquired or modernized for the Russian Air Force before 2020, Air Force Deputy Commander Lt. Gen. Igor Sadofyev said on Wednesday.
"More than 1,500 planes and helicopters will be brand new, and some 400 will be modernized," he said.
It is also planned to increase the share of modern high-precision armaments by 18 times, to 70%, before 2020, he said.
The share of drones will increase by six times, to 30% of all aircraft, within the next ten years.
Meanwhile, the number of all-weather round-the-clock aircraft will increase by four-and-a-half times in the same period. The loss of aircraft will decline by ten to twelve times, and airbases will operate in the unified reconnaissance and control mode.
