MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has ordered that the Defense Ministry and the Russian Space Agency (Roscosmos) submit proposals on the merger of the air defense, ballistic missile defense (BMD) and space control systems by November 15, 2011.
The respective order has been posted on the Russian government's website on Wednesday.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev ordered earlier that Putin and Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov complete the merger of the existing air defense, BMD, ballistic missile early warning and space control systems under the joint strategic command by December 1, 2011.
Medvedev introduced the initiative in his address to the Federal Assembly on November 30.
