Abortive GLONASS launch may cause reshuffle in Federal Space Agency administration - source

MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - First Deputy Defense Minister Vladimir Popovkin may soon replace Anatoly Perminov as the head of the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), an informed source told Interfax on Thursday.

"The recent loss of three GLONASS satellites will hardly go unnoticed. The conclusions will be drawn after the end of the investigation conducted by the Prosecutor General's Office at the president's order of the Federal Space Agency and aerospace companies related to the GLONASS program," he said.

"There are a number of candidates for heading the Federal Space Agency, and First Deputy Defense Minister, former Space Forces commander Vladimir Popovkin and Energia Aerospace Corporation President Vitaly Lopota are the most probable candidates," he said.

Interfax has not obtained an official confirmation of the expected changes in the Federal Space Agency administration.
