MOSCOW. Dec 13 (Interfax) - Moscow and the capitals of the participants in the six-nation talks will be hosting a number of negotiations on the North Korean agenda this week.
"Given the continuation of tension on the Korean peninsula the Russian Foreign Ministry is holding intensive consultations with its foreign partners," the Russian Foreign Ministry reported
The first event will be the meeting of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with his North Korean counterpart Pak Ui-Chun on Monday.
"The agenda for my visit to the Russian Federation, due to take place on December 12-15 at the invitation of the Russian side, includes negotiations with the foreign minister of Russia, Mr. Lavrov, on issues surrounding bilateral relations and crucial international problems," the North Korean minister said in an interview with Interfax.
This week Moscow will also be hosting South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Wee Son-Nak who is expected to hold talks with his Russian opposite number Alexei Borodavkin.
In addition, Russian Foreign Ministry ambassador Grigory Logvinov who is in charge of the six-nation talks will visit Washington.
"The active dialogue with the main interested sides is aimed at preventing the further growth of confrontation and finding ways to improve the situation in the region," the Russian Foreign Ministry says.
