Over 50 young people detained near Moscow's Smolenskaya metro

MOSCOW. Dec 15 (Interfax) - The police are detaining young people at the exit of Smolenskaya metro station, an Interfax correspondent reports.

A source in law enforcement told Interfax that by now over 50 people have been detained and are being taken to Arbat police precinct. Various sharp objects, including knives and screwdrivers have been confiscated from the detainees.

Interfax has not obtained official information on this information.

Earlier, spokesman for the Moscow police HQ, Viktor Biryukov told Interfax that over 150 people had been detained for breaches of law, most of them originating from the Caucasus. "Non-lethal and cold weapons were found on many of them," he said.
