BISHKEK. Dec 20 (Interfax) - A new coalition government of Kyrgyzstan starts to fulfill its duties.
"The coalition government of Kyrgyzstan is formed, and we will transfer powers of the interim government to it today," Kyrgyz President Rosa Otunbayeva said on Monday at the first meeting of the coalition government formed on December 17.
Otunbayeva presented the makeup of the new government formed by the ruling coalition of the Republic Party, the Social Democratic Party and Ata Zhurt, including Defense Minister Abibula Kudaiberdiyev and Security Service Chief Keneshbek Dyushebayev who retained their positions.
"The country enters into a new phase [of development], and I stop to fulfill powers of the prime minister," Otunbayeva said.
Social Democratic Party leader Almazbek Atambayev heads the Kyrgyz coalition government. Otunbayeva was the acting prime minister after her election as the president, in the period before the formation of the parliament and the government.
The new government comprises three vice-premiers, the head of the directorate for reconstructions in Osh and Jalal-Abad in the vice-premier's rank, the head of the government staff, 18 ministers and heads of two state committees.
