MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax-AVN) - The reserve Glonass-M satellite, which was due to start working last week, is still on standby.
Two reserve Glonass-M satellites are being connected to the system, the Federal Space Agency's information and analytical center said.
Agency head Anatoly Perminov said earlier that the first satellite would start working on December 16. "Two reserve satellites have been activated. The first will be connected to the orbiting cluster on December 16, and the second in the first half of January," he said.
So far, the cluster consists of 26 satellites, including 20 in use, four under maintenance and two being connected to the system.
A Soyuz 2.1b rocket launch carrying a new-generation Glonass-K1 satellite is planned for December 27 or 28.
