MOSCOW. Feb 2 (Interfax) - A Russian diplomatic source has confirmed to Interfax that Ireland has decided to expel a Russian diplomat from that country.
"This information has been confirmed," the source said.
It was reported earlier that the Irish government announced its intention to terminate diplomatic status of a member of the Russian diplomatic mission in that country on grounds that he had apparently been involved in identity theft for intelligence gathering purposes.
The department reported that Irish security services had obtained persuasive evidence that Russian intelligence services had acquired details of six genuine passports belonging to Irish citizens to use them for espionage operations in the U.S, Sky News said citing a statement by the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs.
